Intro to Asynchronous Serial Communications

• I had to bend the side parts of the rotary encoders to fit them on my board. Is this what you’re supposed to do? Is there an easier way to make them fit?

• Flow Control: Call and Response (Handshaking)

  • Got error message saying “Compilation error: 'sensorValue' was not declared in this scope” but it looks like it was in the code? I copy and pasted the code in the lab for this and all the other examples were working before it.

Serial Input to p5.js Using the p5.webserial Library

• Was able to get the initial graph working perfectly. Trouble arose when I started changing the code to read Serial Data as a String - the graph just came up blank.
  • The line that was giving me trouble was the map function in graphData function: “was expecting Number for the first parameter, received an empty variable instead. If not intentional, this is often a problem with scope”

Serial Output From p5.js Using the p5.webserial Library

• Could not get my code to read a value and turn the LED on. Port was open on p5 and showed no other problems, code was copied directly from lab and had no errors on the Arduino or p5 end. Conceptually lab makes sense but going to spend a little more time trying to figure out why my LED won’t light up.
