Midterm Work

• Tom and I have come up with a new idea - small room sized instrument, where you have to use a flashlight to find the “notes” (phototransistor). Having multiple people means multiple notes can be played at the same time so you can create a composition

• First attempt at connecting the phototransistor to the speaker:

  • Our biggest pain point: Figuring out how to vary volume through a sensor instead of frequency. Not sure its do-able with the Nano 33 IoT
  • I went to go borrow the elements needed for the sound with micro sd card Labs, but the shop does not have the pieces it needs! Is there another place I can get them to do the labs and play around but not actually invest in them yet?

• Ended up using a basic Nano and an Uno to start prototyping our midterm project

  • Will upload more of that here at some point - we currently have it all in a Google Doc
  • Also worked on presentation - Tom excellent with 3d printers and started printing cases for our speakers and arduinos

  • Once I found a DC power cable to borrow (thanks Mary!) this lab was easy to set up!

• Lab: Controlling a DC Motor with an H-Bridge

  • Having a lot of trouble with this one… Everything I am using has worked independently in other labs, but it is not working for this one. Working with some classmates to try and figure out what is going on, but might give up soon since I’ve been stuck on this for a while
    • Probably need to go back and make sure the power supply I borrowed had enough current and amps
