- My group’s story: I am a monster hunter who lives with my boyfriend, the star of a rockband named Umbrella Dog in the East Village, a neighborhood full of pole dancers. One midnight on Ocean Park Street, we saw a white ASUS UFO ship toy decorated with lights dancing in the wind. We filmed while laughing, but then my boyfriend turned into a lizard so I cooked him with mints and cream and then distilled him into alcohol to help me hunt the Cactus Cow who wields a War Hammer.
Notes from working through tutorials:
- When watching Todd’s tutorial on building my first map, I noticed I didn’t have all of the starter content props that he does (big one: walls. They didn’t seem to come in my pack?). Had to make my own walls from cubes which I think worked fine.
- Also I couldn’t turn on the Real Time Capture setting on the SkyLight because it would crash Unreal whenever I tried to save. I guess it’s probably an issue with my MacBook (with mediocre specs)? My gaming laptop is theoretically arriving sometime today (9/19) and I am going to try to bring my project over and fix the lighting issues as soon as it gets here. If I’m still having a hard time with it, I’ll send in my questions.
- Lighting is also not something I’ve played much with in Unity so I do want to spend time exploring it.
I played with making the interior space for the main character from our story. This is her witchy lair where she cooks her boyfriend-turned-lizard and prepares for her fight with the Cactus Cow.
