I haven spent the past few years interested in the worlds of Immersive Theater, Large Scale Interactive Experiences, and Themed Entertainment, but as a performer, I felt like I lacked the skills necessary to create and develop new ideas. I am interested in computation to explore how I can innovate in these areas.
This semester, I imagine making projects that combine my visual interests with interactive concepts and ideas I’ve come across in my experience as a performer in order to explore how I can move forward to create more fully realized, larger and longer experiences.

I tried to make a semi-realistic style version of myself, or as realistic as I could get using the psj5 web editor and simple shapes I know how to make. By keeping it simple, I am giving myself lots of room to add and play with it in the future. I think the hardest part of making this was looking into the different functions and shapes at my disposal and then figuring out how to use them, specifically arcs. I did manage to figure out everything I wanted to do this week by myself and did not need to consult anything except the p5js reference website.
I did have to give myself a quick trig review when I went to make my smile and my jack-o’-lantern hat, but everything came back quickly once I’d took a look at a pic on google of radians/PI around a circle.
Honestly I spent about 3x as much time on my jack-o’-lantern hat than my own portrait but I love him and think it was a good use of my time. The most difficult part was getting his face to line up since I put him at an angle 🎃. My actual face feels a bit flat but I think that’s part of the program and exercise we’re doing. She kinda looks like a Mii. Realistic drawing or painting (or visual arts in general) have never been my forte.
