Use a divination process (see methods of divination for a long list of choices, but some suggestions are astrology, tarot, or I Ching) as a creation tool for a piece of art in the medium of your choice. Document how you used the divination tool and how it affects your interpretation of the outcome.
Create a tarot card / AR filter to pick cards for you. In my AR class, we are currently learning how to use specific images in the physical world to trigger augmented experiences through the phone using Lens Studio, so I decided to put what I’ve learned to the test for this exercise.
The tarot deck I currently have with me is the Ethereal Visions deck by artist Matt Hughes. Since I have these physical cards with me, I decided to use them for this lens.
I used Marker Tracking → Image Tracking to set the back of the cards as the physical marker for Snapchat to look for.
Once I had that in place, I added my jpg image of the Magician Card as a Scene object, and then pulled it to be a child of the Image Tracking.
In Snapchat, it looks like this:
As I learn more about using Lens Studio, I would like to eventually be able to have a randomizer where the filter would draw a Tarot card at random and it would feel more like a real reading. As of right now, only the Magician card is in this filter.
