Hypercinema Unity Project Documentation.mp4
Worked with Zey on this project. We went through a number of iterations of concepts and ideas before landing on the bookshelf. We liked the concept of multiple shelves, which started from an idea based on looking into windows on a building. We then considered a 60s, hippie concept, but found it too difficult to find inexpensive 3D assets, and too time consuming to make our own, so we pivoted again.

We landed on the bookshelf idea as a way to bring together some of the assets we had already collected. Everything was already something one might find on a bookshelf!
While the books, record player, plants, and speakers we found on the unity asset store, other objects, like the mask and tarot cards, I 3D scanned myself from real objects I found using the Scanniverse app. Zey also made the diffuser in illustrator.
Pulling everything into Unity was a fairly straightforward process, the only issues we encountered were that sometimes the materials did not want to attach to objects. After waiting a few minutes though, they usually would work so it may have been that they just needed more time to load.
With more time, I would have liked to add a skybox in theme with this space, however, none of the sunrise/sunset/galaxy skyboxes that I was able to find and were free to download really felt like the right vibe for our bookshelf. We did not have time to go make this asset. I also would have liked to make the lamp glow, but did not have enough time to work through the lighting process on my own this week. I found a video tutorial I can also follow when I get some free time.
